45 YEARS IN SONOMA COUNTY
Since 1977, Matanzas Creek has established deep roots in California’s Sonoma County.
1977 - Enterprising socialite Sandra MacIver establishes Matanzas Creek Winery with Merry Edwards as the founding winemaker.
1980 - The first Matanzas Creek Sauvignon Blanc is produced.
1984 - Jackson Park Vineyard is planted to 90 acres of the Pétrus Merlot clone.
1989 - David Ramey becomes winemaker and establishes pedigree of outstanding 90+ point wines.
1996 - The Wine Spectator names Sandra MacIver one of the 20 most influential people in the
modern wine industry.
2000 - Jess Jackson & Barbara Banke purchase Matanzas Creek Winery with the aim of continuing the winery’s exceptional winemaking history.
2003 - Bennett Valley is recognized as a distinctive growing region and the area was given AVA status.
2011 - Marcia Torres-Forno is named Winemaker.
2017 - All estate vineyards are sustainably farmed and certified under the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance.
Today - We continue to celebrate the legacy of our estate with limited production, terroir-driven wines.
